A Weekend of Racing: 14th Annual Diamond Island Regatta Takes Place August 15, with Split Rock Race on August 16
[ Diamond Island Regatta and Split Rock Race Results for 2026 ]
Come join us the weekend of August 15 & 16 for the 14th annual Diamond Island Regatta on Saturday and the Split Rock Race on Sunday. Both races are part of the Lake Champlain Championship Series and draw boats from all over the lake for a fun weekend of competition and camaraderie.
Once again, the Diamond Island Regatta festivities will benefit the Lake Champlain Maritime Museum. This year, in honor of the nation’s 250th birthday, the regatta shirt features USS Liberty. The Liberty was the first U.S. Navy ship on inland waters, and is the reason Whitehall, N.Y., is referred to as the birthplace of the U.S. Navy.
Events start on Saturday morning with breakfast at 8, followed by the skippers’ meeting at 9 and the Diamond Island Regatta. After the race, please join us for a celebration with live music, photos from the race, a presentation from Maritime Museum Director Chris Sabick on the Liberty, and on the museum’s new exhibit, “Fragments,” which tells the story of the American Revolution through the lives of people who lived in the Lake Champlain region. We cap off the evening with our Lobster Fest dinner and the drawing of raffle prizes.
Raffle prizes this year include transient dockage at marinas, Helly Hansen jackets, an ROV shipwreck tour, restaurant dinners, and more. There will also be silent auctions for half-off winter storage at Point Bay, Safe Harbor Shelburne Shipyard, The Moorings (Malletts Bay) and Plattsburgh Boat Basin!
This Year’s DIR T-shirts!
[ Orders are now closed for Diamond Island Regatta T-shirts and hats for 2026. We will have some extra shirts and hats for sale at the event. If you know you’d like one, please email Wendy Friant, race director, with the style and size. We’ll do our best to try to help you out. No guarantees! ]

The Split Rock Race will follow on Sunday morning providing everyone with a chance to rack up some more series points before sailing home. The starting sequence on Sunday begins at 10:30.
