From Fred Dunnington:
John Prine had it right. “Blow up your TV. Throw away your paper …” Unplug! Cruise! We hope you will join us for some or all of the fun in our 2026 DIYC Cruise Week!
Here’s the plan, of course subject to modification for weather:

- Saturday, July 25 — Sail north to the Burlington area with dinghy raft-up hors d’ouvres & sundowners.
- Sunday, July, 26 — Sail to Valcour Island – west side; hike island trails; tour Bluff Point stone lighthouse; bring beach chairs ashore for a potluck dinner.
- Monday, July 27 — Sail to Treadwell Bay / Deep Bay area – Raft UP!
- Tuesday, July 28 — Sail to the Inland Sea! – anchor at North Hero City Bay. A hit last year, North Hero House Pier Bar – drinks and good food! Hero’s Welcome store & deli – great breakfast coffee & treats.
- Wednesday, July 29 and Thursday, July 30 — Sail to Burton Island State Park. for two full days of fun. Hike around the island, play disc golf course, bocce tournament and table games in the pavilion. Conclude Thursday evening with a banquet hosted by the Burton Island Bistro. NOTE: Make your slip reservation by calling (802) 524-6353! Tell them you’re with the DIYC group and want a slip in the outer marina. Moorings are also available on a first-come, first-serve basis. For visitors coming by land: Ferry service (small boat) from Kill Kare State Park/St. Albans Point (802) 524-6021).
- Friday July 31 — sail back thru the Gut and south to the Plattsburgh / Valcour / Stave area.
- Saturday Aug 1 — sail to Safe Harbor Willsboro Marina. Will has again arranged for Marina slips at $1/ft. Let him know you are coming and make a reservation through Dockwa! Rate will be adjusted when you check in. It’s possible to anchor near the marina docks if you prefer. Potluck dinner smorgasbord planned. Get rid of your cruise week leftovers!
- Sunday Aug 2 — cruise home!
Will Patten will again host the daily VHF net on channel 8 at 8:30 each morning. Slack will be used to update plans for specific destinations.
